The major cause of gout is the accumulation of uric acid in the joints. The uric acid is a chemical that is a natural part of the normal breakdown and build up of food in body tissues. The level of uric acid may be found and measured in the blood.
As long as the level of uric acid continues to be lower than the normal any symptoms of gout are a remote possibility. Provided of course that medication is continued. Some drugs work by increasing elimination of uric acid through the kidney while others simply hinder the formation of uric acid in the first place.

your doctor must prescribe a medication called Zyloprim (generic name is allopurinol) and depending on what your bloodwork shows will depend of the dosage prescribed for your gout. Good luck and may God bless and keep you safe and healthy !!!!!
another BIG factor in getting the gout under control is the types of food you eat and what your daily diet is.

Allopurinol (RX) and Black Cherry Capsules from the Health Food Store for break-through pain. These are treatments only - to my knowledge, there is no cure. Once you have Gout it tends to flare up from time to time.. Good Luck.

I take 4 motrin at one time and the pain goes away. It has to be motrin.. A friend of mine told me that her husband took the 4 motrin and it worked, so I tried it and it did.. now if it starts to flair up I go ahead and take the motrin before it becomes a problem.

allopurinol, it takes care of the precursor for the uric acid. natural methods pale in comparison. Take some asprin until you can make it into the clinic. Podagra is a Bi**h but you'd better nip it in the bud before you start to deposit crystals in other joints

Since you both have got it, I would suggest your diet is a big contributor to your gout. Yep watch what you eat and drink. Strawberries is one, Seafood is another, especially prawns and red wine or port will also set off a gout attack. So when you both have an onset of gout, remember what you ate the night before and slowly weed out the food that upsets you. Cheers and good luck.

Zyloprim is usually prescribed for gout and you usually take it 3 times a day also eating certain meats makes you more prone to getting gout..i know organ meats but you might want to look that up more..

Colchicine is the drug of choice it has to be prescribed by your doctor it usually cures the gout in about 48 hours if this is a recurring event then you should keep this med on hand and start taking as soon as you feel an onset of gout starting. Gout is a dangerous condition you need to see a doc because this might lead to other serious conditions like renal function and other things Good Luck
